On May 29, 2017 Eyes on Animals inspectors conducted an unannounced visit of a goat fattening farm in North Brabant, the Netherlands. Serious welfare problems at a goat farm in the Netherlands

May 29, 2017

High mortality among kids

Today Eyes on Animals visited a goat farm in North Brabant. We parked our car and headed towards the farmers’ home to introduce ourselves to the farmer. Because the windows of the stable were open, we could see inside the stable while walking towards the main door. We immediately saw that the condition in the stable was alarming. A significant proportion of the kids … [Read more...] about Serious welfare problems at a goat farm in the Netherlands

Eyes on Animals inspection at a goat farm

On May 29th we made an unannounced visit to one of the biggest goat milk farms in the Netherlands: PeBe in Schaijk. Our impression of the stable was positive. There was a lot of daylight because the side windows were open and there were windows in the roof. This gave a lot of fresh air. The goats were kept on a thick layer of straw and were given quite a lot of space to … [Read more...] about Visit to one of the biggest goat milk farm in the Netherlands

Visit of calf slaughterhouse Fuite Veal

May 10, 2017

Calf slaughterhouse in Tubbergen

Today we visited Vuite Feal, a calf slaughterhouse in Tubbergen (NL). Fuite Veal is a relatively new slaughterhouse. We were allowed to observe the entire slaughterhouse: The unloading of trucks, the lairage, the raceway and the stunning area. The handling of the calves went smoothly and without too much distress, but we did have some recommendations to improve the … [Read more...] about Visit of calf slaughterhouse Fuite Veal

Unannounced visits to slaughterhouses East Netherlands

It involved unannounced visits, which made us run the risk that there was no time for us, and the chance that we would not be welcome. Practical training of Official Polish Road Inspectors in Lublin, Poland

April 7, 2017

It is our fifth day of work with the ITD (Official Road Inspectors) from Lublin area, accompanied by Veterinary Inspectors. This time we only catch one livestock truck passing by to stop and check, but it was a very important inspection because there were may violations. The curtains to protect the birds from adverse weather are inappropriate, not allowing proper … [Read more...] about Practical training of Official Polish Road Inspectors in Lublin, Poland

Practical Training of Official Road Inspectors (ITD) in Lublin – Day 4, Poland

April 6, 2017

Resting one on another

The weather is not supporting our work today: we are stopping and inspecting livestock lorries with the Polish Road Transport Inspectors in wind, rain and hail. The first stopped truck is empty, documents and construction are OK. The second one, a national pig truck, raises our doubts about loading density, but after careful calculations we see that there are no … [Read more...] about Practical Training of Official Road Inspectors (ITD) in Lublin – Day 4, Poland

Se debería de aprobar un pacto de estado contra el fuego, por la prevención y de compromisos contra el cambio climático.
