Referans, a Turkish-language Islamic magazine published an article written by our inspector

December 10, 2025

Referans, a Turkish-language Islamic magazine focused on religion, published an article written by our trainer/inspector Asalet Sancakdaroglu about the importance of slaughter being as humane as possible and the religious texts permitting, and even advocating, for rendering animals unconscious prior to the unavoidable and painful slaughter procedures such as restraint, … [Read more...] about Referans, a Turkish-language Islamic magazine published an article written by our inspector

Follow-up check on Çorlu cattle slaughterhouse, Turkey

November 26, 2025

The slaughterhouse in Çorlu (Turkey) was the first one that was interested in improving animal welfare and was ready to stun cattle at their plant. We bought a really good pneumatic stunner from the company EFA and installed it about 8 years ago for them. The workers learned how to use it. Joanne McArthur from WeAnimals was with us to document this breakthrough. Sadly … [Read more...] about Follow-up check on Çorlu cattle slaughterhouse, Turkey

Today Asalet from Eyes on Animals did a follow-up visit at a cattle slaughterhouse near Vezirköprü (Turkey). This time he taught the slaughtermen how a captive bolt stunner works and how to use it to render their cattle unconscious prior to cutting their throat. During the lesson all cattle were stunned by the slaughtermen under guidance of Asalet. The plant is now … [Read more...] about Training captive bolt stunning at a cattle slaughterhouse near Vezirköprü, Turkey

Installation of electric stunner at Halal sheep abattoir in Istanbul, Turkije

November 4, 2024

After the horrible disappointment of not being able to help the 47 Romanian cattle stuck at the EU/Turkey border (where they were left to wait for 2 weeks and then slaughtered while fully conscious at a slaughterhouse in Edirne that did not allow us in to at least stun the animals first), we have some better news. Today Asalet and Jack from Eyes on Animals set up an … [Read more...] about Installation of electric stunner at Halal sheep abattoir in Istanbul, Turkije
