First visit to Taşköprü slaughterhouse, Turkey
This afternoon we visited Taşköprü slaughterhouse. It's a small abattoir that slaughters just two or three cattle a week. They have a good anti-slip unloading ramp- the animals do not have to climb up or down a steep ramp and no risk of slipping. Meeting with TSE and World Halal Union to show them horrendous suffering in Turkish abattoirs
This afternoon we met with Ahmet Gelir who works for the World Halal Union and TSE (Turkish Standards Institute). TSE has a protocol for how animals must be slaughtered which is used as a basis for 37 Islamic countries that belong to World Halal Union.
