More and more chicken-catching companies, encouraged by the Dutch Chicken Catching Organization, refuse to catch birds upright

Laying hens from Rondeel this time caught by the legs and held upside down

Despite Rondeel having been the first egg company to switch to the gentle upright method of catching hens in 2017, this time none of the birds were caught upright. Hens from “Eike” sadly continued to be caught upside down by the legs

Early 2021 Smits - source of energy, the producer of Eike eggs which are sold at Sligro, had informed us that they would like to have their spent laying hens caught upright.  This involved a total of 40,000 chickens. Convicted employee “scapegoat” of failing company management

March 15, 2022

Today the judge sentenced a worker from control post ‘Qualivia’ in Tollevast to 8 months probationary jail for the abuse of calves. Additionally, the employee is not allowed to work in an animal related profession for 5 years and is not allowed to keep animals for 3 years.
