3. Oktober 2025

Today was our last day hosting the Japanese delegation from Jamti (Japanese Meat Technology Institute, made up of 200 members from the Japanese meat industry, including slaughterhouse managers and animal scientist). Eyes on Animals held 2 presentations for them- one of the training we give to workers of pig slaughterhouses and one of the training we give to workers in … [Mehr...] about EonA gives presentations of better practices for pig and cattle slaughterhouses to Japanese delegation

Eyes on Animals and Japanese delegation visit Compaxo slaughterhouse in Zevenaar (NL)

30. September 2025

Compaxo stands out as the only large-scale pig slaughterhouse in the Netherlands that uses electric stunning rather than CO₂ gas. This is a significant distinction, as electric stunning—when carried out properly—renders pigs unconscious immediately. In contrast, CO₂ stunning causes pigs to experience 10 to 25 seconds of stress, fear, and even panic due to the sensation of … [Mehr...] about Eyes on Animals and Japanese delegation visit Compaxo slaughterhouse in Zevenaar (NL)

29. September 2025

This week, Eyes on Animals is hosting a delegation of six Japanese slaughterhouse CEOs and animal-science professors brought together by the Japan Meat Technology Institute (JAMTI). Their goal? To learn firsthand about how to advance more humane slaughter methods that reduce fear, stress, and pain in animals. Today we brought the group to Willems Abattoir in Druten—a … [Mehr...] about EonA hosts Japanese to Learn More Humane Slaughter Practices -Willems slaughterhouse, NL

Visit to Van Kemenade pig slaughterhouse

23. September 2025

Today, Eyes on Animals visited Van Kemenade, a small-scale pig slaughterhouse in the Netherlands, to assess animal handling, lairage conditions, and stunning practices. This facility slaughters pigs from Dutch farms that are no longer considered suitable for further fattening due to health problems, including umbilical hernias, abscesses, or bite wounds. Without a local … [Mehr...] about Visit to Van Kemenade pig slaughterhouse

Training on pig welfare and humane slaughter at Pretty Piper Pig farm, Ghana

9. September 2025

Sadly factory pig farming is growing in Ghana. WACPAW/EonA are busy making sure the same mistakes made in the west are not repeated. The WACPAW/EonA team recently returned to Pretty Piper Pig Farm, after visiting it for the first time earlier in the summer.  The purpose of today’s visit was to train farmhands, management, and slaughtermen in three key areas: pig … [Mehr...] about Training on pig welfare and humane slaughter at Pretty Piper Pig farm, Ghana

Visit to laying hen slaughterhouse in Flanders

23. Juni 2025

Today, we paid a visit to a large slaughterhouse in Flanders, where laying hens from the Netherlands, France, Germany and Belgium are processed. Our aim was to observe the measures in place to prevent heat stress and to raise concerns about the containers in which part of the hens are transported. After a productive discussion, we were given access to observe the lairage, … [Mehr...] about Visit to laying hen slaughterhouse in Flanders

Visit to poultry slaughterhouse Wilki in Ravels (Belgium)

3. Juni 2025

Today, our team made an unannounced visit to slaughterhouse Wilki in Ravels, where large numbers of Dutch laying hens are slaughtered. At our suggestion, Wilki previously installed a canopy for poultry trucks. In warm weather, loaded trucks can wait here instead of standing in direct sunlight. We inspected the canopy today: it accommodates 2–3 trucks and is equipped … [Mehr...] about Visit to poultry slaughterhouse Wilki in Ravels (Belgium)

As regional slaughterhouses disappear, transport distances increase

26. Mai 2025

Eyes on Animals is observing a troubling trend: transport distances for culled cows and sows are increasing due to the disappearance of regional slaughterhouses. In regions such as Friesland, many local facilities have shut down, forcing animals from the northern Netherlands to be transported all the way to slaughterhouses in the east or south of the country and even deep … [Mehr...] about As regional slaughterhouses disappear, transport distances increase

Schulung zum Thema Betäubung in einem Halal-Schlachthof für Schafe in Ankara, Türkei

29. April 2025

Training on cattle behaviour and welfare at FamilyBeef slaughterhouse in Epe (NL)

24. April 2025

Today, Eyes on Animals, together with MHS Consultancy, gave an animal welfare training to the staff of the FamilyBeef cattle slaughterhouse. Using photos and videos, we guided them through the sensory world of the cow:🔹 How does a cow see?🔹 What does she hear?🔹 What does her behaviour tell us? Hesitating or refusing to walk is rarely due to … [Mehr...] about Training on cattle behaviour and welfare at FamilyBeef slaughterhouse in Epe (NL)

Se debería de aprobar un pacto de estado contra el fuego, por la prevención y de compromisos contra el cambio climático.
