July 7, 2020

Van Veen vee- en vleeshandel

On May 25th Eyes on Animals paid an unannounced visit to Van Veen’s assembly center in Zuilichem. Unfortunately, no one was able to speak to us. We were asked to send an e-mail which we did, several times. Unfortunately, to this day we have not received a response from Van Veen, even though we sent them several reminders. Therefore, we assume that Van Veen is not … [Read more...] about Livestock Trader Van Veen not interested in animal welfare advice EonA

EonA not yet welcome at VSS slaughterhouse to view slaughter

Sheep

On 28 April, Eyes on Animals visited the VSS slaughterhouse in Elspeet where sheep, dairy goats and billy goats are slaughtered. We received a warm welcome from one of the employees. We talked about our work in Ghana, where we, among other things, improve goat welfare by introducing pre-slaughter stunning. Together with the employee we talked about restraining and stunning … [Read more...] about EonA not yet welcome at VSS slaughterhouse to view slaughter

No possibility to access chickens in need of help during transport

June 8, 2020

During random inspections of livestock lorries on the roads, Eyes on Animals inspectors again noticed broiler chickens stuck on their backs in transport containers. One of the reasons broiler chickens are often found on their backs is because of rough loading at the poultry farm. However, it can also happen during transport when the truck takes a sharp turn or drives over … [Read more...] about No possibility to access chickens in need of help during transport

EonA not welcome at assembly center Busser in Bennekom

February 10, 2020

In early May 2018, Eyes on Animals paid an unannounced visit to Busser assembly center. We received a guided tour, but no animals were loaded nor unloaded at that time. Therefore, we were only able to give some recommendations. We asked if we could come back at a later time and were told this would be fine.  Mid November 2019 this unannounced revisit took place, but … [Read more...] about EonA not welcome at assembly center Busser in Bennekom

In februari staat The Animal Law Foundation in de rechtszaal. Zij vechten het besluit van de Britse overheid aan om het vangen van kippen aan de poten opnieuw toe te staan. In plaats van te handhaven, wil de overheid de wet versoepelen.
De wereld op zijn kop.

Tens of millions of chickens are still carried upside down by their legs – a practice that causes severe suffering.

When the law tried to prevent this, the government weakened it.

In February, we’ll be in court challenging that decision.
Public scrutiny matters. Please share.
