Poultry slaughterhouse Jan van Ee (NL) not interested in visit from Eyes on Animals

October 24, 2017

A few months earlier Eyes on Animals brought an unannounced visit to poultry slaughterhouse Jan van Ee in Stroe (NL) . Jan van Ee slaughters broilers and uses the CO2 gas stunning system of Anglia Autoflow (AA). We had a quick talk with the director. We talked about the transport containers of AA that are quite big – which can cause welfare problems when they are loaded (for example when a stuck bird needs to be freed). We offered to visit Jan van Ee and give some practical recommendations on how bird suffering can be decreased. Jan van Ee told us that he would discuss this internally.

Unfortunately today Jan van Ee has let us know that they are not interested in a visit and that they would rather work with their own specialists.
