In May 2015 Eyes on Animals brought an unannounced visit to the slaughterhouse RKKB in Didam (NL). RKKB slaughters cattle and sheep, with and without stunning. We had a quick talk with the director. It was not possible to visit the slaughter-area at that moment to observe the handling and slaughtering of the animals. The director promised to discuss internally if Eyes on Animals could observe the slaughter at a later moment. But we already got the impression there wasn’t a lot of interest.
After this visit we sent several emails to the director of RKKB but never got any reply back, so we assume that RKKB isn’t open to our recommendations on animal welfare.
