Eyes on Animals gave a presentation today at a meeting for banks in The Hague, made possible by the Dierenbescherming (national Dutch animal protection organisation). In July of last year a report about Dutch bank groups and animals transport was published. The report shows that banks that invest in animal transport and meat companies pay little attention to animal … [Read more...] about Presentation to Dutch banks about animal-transport

Brainstorming with SVO to start welfare-trainings for chicken catchers (NL)
Welfare improvements for “Dutch” chickens during transport are around the corner! Meeting with Cuppers, livestock-truck manufacturer, NL
Today Eyes on Animals together with Herman Klompjan (livestock driver and from Consultancy Animal Welfare Transport) visited Cuppers, a Dutch company that builds and repairs livestock trucks. Observation of a “good” poultry truck in Turkey

Ventilation is also seriously impeded as headspace is … [Read more...] about Observation of a “good” poultry truck in Turkey
Inspection of unloading of sheep at a Turkish market
This afternoon the team from EonA/AWF spotted a sheep truck on the national roads east of Istanbul. The truck headed to a livestock market in Tuzla where we observed the unloading of the animals. The sheep were loaded on two levels. The bottom level had very little ventilation as the sides of the truck were almost completely closed. The transport journey must … [Read more...] about Inspection of unloading of sheep at a Turkish market

Today a team from Eyes on Animals and Animal Welfare Foundation spotted a national cattle truck on the roads in Turkey. The cattle were all tied on, bulls and cows mixed. We immediately signalled to the truck driver to … [Read more...] about Risk of serious injury for cow during transport, Turkey
