Olives Gbawe slaughterhouse, Accra, Ghana

December 7, 2022

An Eyes on Animals team is back in Ghana. Since 2017 we have been helping (hands-on and financially) the terrific local animal-welfare organization WACPAW (West Africa Centre for the Protection of Animal Welfare) in getting urgent help to animals in Ghanaean slaughterhouses, where the level of suffering is exceptionally high. The slaughterhouse we visited today is called … [Read more...] about Olives Gbawe slaughterhouse, Accra, Ghana

Famous Turkish theologian confirms thst stunning animals is not in contradiction with Muslim faith

November 27, 2022

Asalet from Eyes on Animals met with a famous Turkish theologian, Mustafa İslamoğlu, about the subject of animal slaughter with stunning. The obstacle in the Islamic world is whether stunning an animal prior to cutting his or her throat is Islamically acceptable. Since the theologians are reluctant to talk about the topic, animal suffering continues in the Islamic world. … [Read more...] about Famous Turkish theologian confirms thst stunning animals is not in contradiction with Muslim faith

EonA gives online training on how to use a stunner to cattle abattoir personnel from Kahta, Turkey

November 18, 2022

Eyes on Animals gave another online training course to the butcher and manager of a Turkish slaughterhouse in south-east Turkey (near Kahta). It was too far away and expensive for us to get there physically but via video Asalet explained how the level of suffering animals endure in Turkish abattoirs needs to be reduced, and how crucial it is to render the animals first … [Read more...] about EonA gives online training on how to use a stunner to cattle abattoir personnel from Kahta, Turkey

EonA gives successful online training to slaughterhouse in Eastern Turkey on stunning

November 16, 2022

We sent a captive bolt stunner to a slaughterhouse in the far east of Turkey, a location that was too complicated and expensive for us to get to quickly during our current inspections here. They were very interested in improving animal-welfare and learning about rendering animals unconscious prior to cutting them. Yesterday Asalet gave them a video training on how to use … [Read more...] about EonA gives successful online training to slaughterhouse in Eastern Turkey on stunning

Training the use of stunners at cattle slaughterhouse near Agri, Turkey

November 9, 2022

This morning we gave a practical training course to another slaughterhouse in eastern Turkey, not far from the city of Agri. Here, like almost all other cattle and sheep slaughterhouses all over the country, animals were being hoisted by one leg and having their throats cut all while fully conscious and thus fully capable of feeling pain and fear. We showed them how a … [Read more...] about Training the use of stunners at cattle slaughterhouse near Agri, Turkey

Follow-up inspection cattle slaughterhouse near Kars, Turkey

November 7, 2022

This morning we conducted a follow-up inspection at a cattle slaughterhouse near Kars in Eastern Turkey. Eyes on Animals had shown the people of this plant what a captive bolt stunner was a few months ago and taught them how to use it properly to render animals unconscious prior to slaughter so that they were insensitive to the pain. Turkey, being an Islamic country, has … [Read more...] about Follow-up inspection cattle slaughterhouse near Kars, Turkey

Training use of a stunner at a cattle slaughterhouse in Bilecik, Turkey

November 3, 2022

Today Eyes on Animals gave a training course on the advantage of using stunners to a slaughterhouse in Bilecik, Turkey. Normally the cattle here have their throats cut while restrained upright in a rotating box and are then turned onto their backs. The suffering is horrible as the animals are fully conscious, thus they feel all the excruciating pain of the cut through deep … [Read more...] about Training use of a stunner at a cattle slaughterhouse in Bilecik, Turkey

Visit to Edemen slaughterhouse, Bursa, Turkey

November 2, 2022

This afternoon EonA visited a slaughterhouse in Bursa that we had been to before. Four years ago they were not interested in the stunner, fearful that stunning may not be Halal. But Asalet is helping break down this myth by showing how it works, how stunning decreases greatly animal suffering compared to slaughtering fully conscious animals and explaining what is in the … [Read more...] about Visit to Edemen slaughterhouse, Bursa, Turkey

Besuch im Schlachthof Et Ba zur Vorstellung des Betäubungsverfahrens, Türkei

November 2, 2022

A look at the changes that were made at duck slaughterhouse Tomassen Duck-To

November 1, 2022

Today we paid a visit to duck slaughterhouse Tomassen Duck-To in Ermelo (NL). Tomassen had made a few changes which they wanted to show us. On the lairage ceiling and along the walls, misting fans had been installed. Tomassen told us this makes the indoor waiting area considerably cooler during the summer months. The fans were installed after the NVWA (the Dutch food … [Read more...] about A look at the changes that were made at duck slaughterhouse Tomassen Duck-To

Las primeras víctimas siempre son los animales.

Se debería de aprobar un pacto de estado contra el fuego, por la prevención y de compromisos contra el cambio climático.
