Today Eyes on Animalse met with the owner of Nebyan Meat company and the vet, Mr. Ali. Professor Dr. Duygu Dalgın (director of Acisiz Kesim ngo in Turkey) is also present. Nebyan Meat supports the idea of pre-stunning animals for halal as animals suffer much less when first rendered unconscious. They want to use captive bolt stunning to its full extent. Today we gave them … [Read more...] about Meat shop in Samsun (Turkey) equipped with stunner to use on lambs they slaughter

We met with a representative from the Turkish national animal-welfare NGO Haytap. Her name is Mrs. Ayten Tokgöz. Together we drove to the Küresel Et slaughterhouse. First visit to Taşköprü slaughterhouse, Turkey

February 15, 2024

EonA employee in front of the entrance to the slaughterhouse

The restraint box is illuminated from above with light, instead of being really dark as in many other plants. Cattle do not see … [Read more...] about First visit to Taşköprü slaughterhouse, Turkey

Use of captive bolt stunner at cattle abattoir near Düzce, Turkey

February 13, 2024

A cow in a turkish slaughterhouse is stunned with a stunning device

Another halal cattle slaughterhouse in Turkey is in favour of pre-stunning cattle before bleeding them out, so that the animal is rendered unconscious (insensitive to pain) before being hoisted and cut. Asalet from EonA was at this Turkish cattle slaughterhouse to train the workers and provide them with a captive bolt stunner last year. The manager had requested our help … [Read more...] about Use of captive bolt stunner at cattle abattoir near Düzce, Turkey

Rebutal to Dr. Katme’s illogical claim that rendering animals unconscious prior to slaughter is haram and that slaughter on fully conscious animals is ethical

December 30, 2023

the throat of a cow hoisted alive is cut by a worker in the slaughterhouse

There are many people who claim to know best what products and actions are halal (allowed) or haram (forbidden) by Islam law. Unfortunately not all people, even ones that appear important, necessarily have the expertise or the experience of what is taking place on the ground to justify having such strong and self-assured opinions. Many of these strong opinions are simply … [Read more...] about Rebutal to Dr. Katme’s illogical claim that rendering animals unconscious prior to slaughter is haram and that slaughter on fully conscious animals is ethical
