Eyes on Animals gives a presentation at Deutscher Tierschutzbund

Today, Eyes on Animals gave a presentation on the upright catching of chickens at the major international agricultural fair "Grüne Woche" in Berlin. Upright catching of spent laying hens on Dutch farm Kipster

January 22, 2024

An EonA member grabs a hen in a chicken coop

Last night we checked and assisted with the catching of spent-hens at a laying-hen farm in the Netherlands from Kipster. Most of the catchers were polite and listened to our tips and got into a gentle flow. What really helped is that not all hens were caught in just one night- instead they caught and loaded 12,000 birds per night … [Read more...] about Upright catching of spent laying hens on Dutch farm Kipster

EonA assists and supervises the upright catching of “spent” laying hens on a Demeter farm, NL

December 10, 2023

Two members of the Eyes on Animals at Demeter

Eyes on Animals helped Demeter egg farmer Kees Sijbenga in Hooghalen (NL) supervise and assist in the upright catching of his "spent" laying hens. Most of the catchers did a very good job at keeping the birds upright and holding them gently; just a few were not following the instructions correctly, concluded both EonA and farmer Kees. This will be taken into account for … [Read more...] about EonA assists and supervises the upright catching of “spent” laying hens on a Demeter farm, NL

Inspection of dog slaughter in northern Ghana

December 4, 2023

Dogs have their front legs brutally tethered behind their backs

Sadly, and shockingly, this is what the WACPAW/EonA team documented while inspecting dog slaughterplaces in northern Ghana. Dogs have their front legs brutally tethered behind their backs, their mouths taped shut and then their throats are slit. This is common practice in the dogmeat trade around the world. The transport of these dogs is also very horrible, overcrowded in … [Read more...] about Inspection of dog slaughter in northern Ghana

Dear friends,

A couple of years ago, while I was giving a talk at an animal welfare conference in the UK, an anthropologist from the University of Cambridge approached me. She conducts research in Mongolia and asked whether — if she could secure funding — we would be willing to help animals there. Where there is a will, there is a way, so I said yes to Liz!
