One of our volunteer inspectors is a member of the German initiative "Rettet das Huhn". They find homes for spent laying hens and when a farmer is preparing to rid his barn of his spent layers, this group offers to load them for free in exchange for the hens not having to go to slaughter. A team from Eyes on Animals and Animal Welfare Foundation was conducting random inspections of livestock trucks tonight and spotted 3 poultry trucks being loaded at a farm in Gelderland. Work visit to Huna Poultry in Biezemortel
Today Eyes on Animals paid an unannounced visit to broiler company Huna. We were informed about the company and we could have a look in the barns. The company houses 150.000 broilers, who all arrive at the same time. They come from a hatchery in a Dutch area called De Peel.
