Yesterday, a team of EonA was invited to a meeting of dairy farmers who supply their milk to Cono, that uses the milk to make Beemster Cheese. For Cono the well-being of the cows have a very high priority. For example, 95% of the cows are grazing, for which Cono rewards the farmers with a bonus. Today Eyes on Animals visited the Zonnehoeve farm, where among other things, they produce milk. They have 60 lactating cows and their young. Both male and female calves are kept with their mother for at least 4 months after birth. Work visit to Huna Poultry in Biezemortel
Today Eyes on Animals paid an unannounced visit to broiler company Huna. We were informed about the company and we could have a look in the barns. The company houses 150.000 broilers, who all arrive at the same time. They come from a hatchery in a Dutch area called De Peel.
