EonA puts more humane way of catching birds into practice

June 15, 2021

EonA introduced the upright method already back in 2016. We saw serious injuries caused such as fractured or crushed wings and legs, plus extremely loud screaming of the birds during catching. We also knew that poultry do not have a diaphragm thus when held upside down all their weight is on their lungs causing breathing problems. We also found several scientific articles … [Read more...] about EonA puts more humane way of catching birds into practice

July 8, 2020

Today Eyes on Animals met with farmer David from GIJS Eggs. He is very open to our suggestion to catch their birds using the "EonA upright" method rather than upside down. Next April, when his hens will be caught and sent for slaughter we are invited to give a presentation and then together with their catchers will catch all the birds in this more humane … [Read more...] about Visit of Gijs egg farm about EonA upright method of catching hens

WILKI sends overview of the adjustments for better animal welfare

April 14, 2020

For some time now, Eyes on Animals has been working with poultry slaughterhouse Wilki: first to improve their crates, which initially had small doorways which sometimes broke, resulting in many injured birds. WILKI replaced them all with new and improved crates. Secondly, they agreed to work on implementing some of our ideas to reduce stress during … [Read more...] about WILKI sends overview of the adjustments for better animal welfare
