Eatery in Tel Aviv opens its doors to The Guardian and is the first to taste the cultured meat burger

December 10, 2020

Cells from “source”-chickens are grown in a laboratory, creating potentially endless supplies of muscle and fat tissue. Some cells have been taken from eggs, which means that the meat comes from birds that have never been born. The result is the signature dish of a new venture in Israel, the Chicken, the world’s first restaurant serving cultured meat. This burger takes about two to three days to grow. Still closed to the public due to corona virus restrictions, the Tel Aviv eatery opened its doors to the Guardian for a first private visit by a journalist.
