Bravo to Rondeel poultry and egg company !

January 16, 2020

Did you know that Rondeel is one of the 2 egg companies that made the switch to the EonA upright method of catching hens ? It means that they humanely catch hens one or maximum 2 at a time, holding the birds upright and supporting them under their breasts, and placing them in the transport crates upright. This is much better than the conventional method that all other egg … [Read more...] about Bravo to Rondeel poultry and egg company !

Animal welfare training at Jekal, Van den Broek and Den Ouden at Kipster

February 24, 2019

Animal welfare training

Today we gave an animal welfare training to three catching teams: Jekal, Van den Broek and Den Ouden. When the training was finished, the catching teams had collectively caught more than 21,000 chickens using the Swedish way. Because this catching method is now being used on a larger scale in the Netherlands compared to Sweden, we now call it the: EonA Dutch method.  … [Read more...] about Animal welfare training at Jekal, Van den Broek and Den Ouden at Kipster

Training of Pots chicken catchers

Last night we gave a poultry- welfare workshop to Pots chicken catchers near Zwolle. Roughly 15 catchers were present to learn about the physiology of poultry, and what to pay attention to during catching and loading in order to reduce stress and suffering. Afterwards we were at a commercial farm with them where they had been hired to catch and load all the spent hens. The … [Read more...] about Training of Pots chicken catchers

Animal welfare course and EonA Dutch catching of Rondeel chickens with catchers from Den Ouden Oirschot

January 23, 2017

On Monday evening - for the first time in The Netherlands – the company “Rondeel” chose to catch and load an entire flock of their 3500 birds with us using the much more humane “EonA Dutch method”. Normally, chickens are grabbed by their legs (3-5 per hand) and then stuffed headfirst into transport crates. With the EonA Dutch method, the chickens are picked up a maximum of … [Read more...] about Animal welfare course and EonA Dutch catching of Rondeel chickens with catchers from Den Ouden Oirschot

Caring Farmers vindt dat de landbouw crisisbestendiger moet worden gemaakt. Aanleiding is de recente stroomuitval in Spanje en Portugal. Vooral de intensieve veehouderij had daar last van.⚡️🔌#stroomuitval
