Demeter farm Het Willink enthousiastic about the upright catching method

July 18, 2022

Demeter farm Het Willink (biodynamic) caught all their hens using the upright method for the first time this year. The owner let us know he was pleasantly surprised. He said: "It was very quiet in the poultry shed. So, I went to check if the catchers had already started working. When i looked, half of the chickens were already in the crates. The difference in the noise … [Read more...] about Demeter farm Het Willink enthousiastic about the upright catching method

Considerable media attention for our heat stress inspections

July 17, 2022

Last week, we carried out inspections at several slaughterhouses during the days with high temperatures. On those days the 'heat protocol' is in effect and we wanted to see if this was in fact implemented correctly. We found various livestock trucks and slaughterhouses that were following the protocol, but unfortunately there were also instances where this was not the … [Read more...] about Considerable media attention for our heat stress inspections

June 22, 2022

Good news, this slaughterhouse close to Belikisir in Turkey that received a training from us and a stunner in March, continues to render cattle unconscious before slaughter. Better practices in a slaughterhouse in Turkey !

June 21, 2022

Last month, thanks to Aziz from Orkinos and HAYTAP, we were invited to train the workers of a cattle slaughterhouse near Ordu on how to use a stunner and then we leased one out to them for free. Now, 4 weeks later during a follow-up visit they continue to stun the cattle. What a huge real difference this makes for the animals. Eyes on Animals is so grateful to Aziz and all … [Read more...] about Better practices in a slaughterhouse in Turkey !

More slaughterhouses in Turkey stunning animals first (video)

Halal slaughter in Turkey video screenshot

For the past 8 years Eyes on Animals has been educating slaughterhouse personnel and managers, professors and religious authorities throughout Turkey about the benefits of stunning animals before restraining them and cutting their throats. Restraining them and cutting their necks open while fully conscious causes serious fear and horrible pain, particularly the way it is … [Read more...] about More slaughterhouses in Turkey stunning animals first (video)

Dear friends,

I first discovered the bad side of factory-farming and industrial slaughter when I was a young girl of twelve.
When I visited a livestock market I saw a pile of sick animals left for dead behind the building. At a huge industrial poultry slaughterhouse, I saw dozens of live chickens walking around the bloody floor…
