April 17, 2015

Yiltay Bursa

We revisited Yilkay slaughterhouse in Bursa on April the 17th. They unfortunately didn’t make any animal welfare improvements since our last visit despite our recommendations. Conditions are still the same as what we saw last year.   … [Read more...] about No improvements at Yilkay slaughterhouse in Bursa, Turkey

Shame on Dutch transport company IntoEurope BV (aka Diepeveen)

February 27, 2015

Sheep legs

Eyes on Animals just received the original paperwork of a consignment of sheep that a Dutch transport company tried to export from the UK to the mainland in July 2014. During this month, live exports of sheep from the UK to mainland Europe increased dramatically over a 4 week period due to the exporters supplying the ever increasing demand for live animals for the Muslim … [Read more...] about Shame on Dutch transport company IntoEurope BV (aka Diepeveen)

Dutch goats stuck for 2.5 days at the EU/Turkey border

Blocked Van Dommelen transporter

Eyes on Animals did its best to raise the alarm about 250 Dutch, mostly pregnant, goats which were stuck on board two livestock trucks at the EU border between Bulgaria and Turkey. Due to unclear paper work issues and certain animals not fulfilling Turkish import requirements regarding maximum age, Van Dommelen transports were withheld by the Turkish authorities. Finally, … [Read more...] about Dutch goats stuck for 2.5 days at the EU/Turkey border

After 2.5 days stuck at Turkish border, Van Dommelen trucks with goats continue to Gölbesi, Turkey

February 4, 2015

Van Dommelen

After alerting the Dutch and Turkish authorities, and likely some negotiation and communication between both countries, it seems that the paper work mistakes have been solved and tonight at 18:00 the van Dommelen trucks with pregnant Dutch goats on board are allowed to leave Kapikule border, Turkey to head another 10 hours to their final destination- a farm in Gölbesi, … [Read more...] about After 2.5 days stuck at Turkish border, Van Dommelen trucks with goats continue to Gölbesi, Turkey

AGRARCOOP (Hungary) doesn’t give us permission to do a follow-up check

June 4, 2014

calf in box

On May 20 2014 an Eyes on Animals/AWF team was in Hungary and tried to make a follow-up check on AGRAGCOOP, a large farm/export centre that in 2012 still housed young calves in individual wooden crates, which were banned by the EU back in 2006! In 2012 during our first unannounced visit we were told by the owner that they will stop housing calves like this by 2013 but … [Read more...] about AGRARCOOP (Hungary) doesn’t give us permission to do a follow-up check

🐮 Ondertussen bij onze zuiderburen: je kunt maar ergens trots op zijn….
Onvoorstelbaar dat dit is toegestaan. Overigens óók in Nederland.
