Today we carried out an unannounced inspection at VION slaughterhouse in Apeldoorn because of the tropical weather. Today Eyes on Animals met with farmer David from GIJS Eggs. He is very open to our suggestion to catch their birds using the "EonA upright" method rather than upside down. EonA again visited the Van Rooi pig slaughterhouse in Helmond during the first tropical day of this year. We were welcomed to come in and were able to see their adjustments to counteract heat stress. Visit to farm ‘t Geertje
Today Eyes on Animals visited the organic farm 't Geertje in Zoeterwoude (The Netherlands). At 't Geertje a variety of animals is kept on a small scale: goats, cattle, chickens, pigs and more. Their meat, eggs and dairy are primarily sold in their own farm shop. A farm like 't Geertje, where the animals can walk around on straw and go outside, is not common.
