Corlu slaughterhouse in Turkey most progressive

February 21, 2019

The manager and veterinarian from Corlu slaughterhouse in Turkey are so far the most motivated, open-minded and effective people to improve animal-welfare that we have worked with in Turkey. Not only are they the first to restrain cattle upright instead of hoisting them alive by a leg and to start stunning the cattle before slaughter to at least render them first insensitive to pain, but they also, on their own initiative, have now installed a rubber mat on the floor of the restraint box to reduce noise and slipperiness, two things that cause fear in cattle. It is a pleasure to work with people like this in Turkey, that do their genuine best to reduce the suffering caused by slaughter.
