More effective stunning at slaughterhouse Fuite Veal

Based on our recommendation during a previous visit, the calf slaughterhouse “Fuite Veal” has bought two new captive bolt pistols to improve the effectiveness of rendering the calves unconscious before slaughter. Calves are now also left to bleed-out for a longer period of time, which is important to assure there is no risk of calves regaining consciousness. In the near future Fuite Veal will renovate and expand their slaughterhouse. During this process further recommendations from Eyes on Animals and Temple Grandin principles, will be taken into account in the design so that the suffering of animals can be further reduced. We would like to thank Fuite Veal for putting some of our recommendations into practice and informing us of these improvements. We will re-visit their plant once all improvements have been put into place.
