Today, EonA had a meeting with the management of an important pig slaughterhouse operating on the European market. The purpose was to discuss how to optimize the slaughtering process using electric stunning.
This slaughterhouse makes very well-founded use of electric stunning. Eyes on Animals also has a preference for electric stunning when slaughtering pigs instead of the very aversive CO2 gas, which unfortunately is used in many large slaughterhouses.
Also present at this meeting was an engineer from a company that specializes in designing slaughterhouse equipment and Dr. Kees Scheepens, veterinarian and pig whisperer, with great expertise in the field of pig behavior.
Joining us via satellite connection was Dr. Temple Grandin, professor at the University of Colorado and the world’s leading expert in furnishing slaughterhouses.
It was an incredible engaging and productive gathering, in which many issues were discussed, all with the purpose of optimizing the potential of working with electric stunning. To such an extent that stunning with CO2 gas will become redundant.
We look forward to our further cooperation.
