Flanders Meat Group slaughterhouse, Zele, BE

March 29, 2018

Flanders Meat Group slaughterhouseEyes on Animals was invited by the manager of this slaughterhouse to give our opinion about the conditions inside and what we think could be further improved on. Since early 2017 the cattle are all pre-stunned, also for Halal as the local Imams approve it. This is a terrific improvement and we congratulate the Imams and the manager for listening and learning from each other.
There were some problems that need to be solved regarding slippery floors, the high noise levels (from the hissing pneumatics and the metal gates) and the restraint box needs to be adjusted, but the manager and technician have agreed to get started on the improvements asap. We will stay in touch with them and be sure that the changes are put into practice as soon as possible.
