Eyes on Animals bought 4 captive bolt pistols and 8000 cartridges to bring to Ghana. Today our team, with the coordination of WACPAW, officially donated one to UDS slaughterhouse in Tamale. It is part of the UDS school campus. It is here where slaughtermen can in the future be trained on how to use captive bolt pistolds so that more and more Ghanaian slaughterhouses can start stunning the animals before cutting their necks. Cattle, sheep, goats and pigs are also slaughtered at UDS commercially, to sell the meat. As of today, the animals are being stunned using a captive bolt pistol, so that at least the suffering is reduced drastically during slaughter.
