Today, all the members of Eyes on Animals took part in the IKB training ‚Responsible Poultry Loading‘ at the SVO training center in Houten. This training is mandatory for all chicken catchers in the Netherlands working in the sector for more than 3 months. By completing the training and passing the exam, Eyes on Animals is now officially authorized to catch and load poultry. Farmers looking for a less stressful method of catching and loading their birds, specifically in a gentle upright way (max 2 chickens at a time) instead of hanging upside down, 3-5 at a time, by one leg, can now officially hire the ladies of Eyes on Animals.
Several poultry service companies are currently protesting against the upright catching method, fearing that it may become mandatory. Even poultry catching teams willing to continue offering the upright catching method are facing pressure. Despite these obstacles, Eyes on Animals remains steadfast in its commitment to bring about positive change in the sector and improve the welfare of chickens during catching and loading.
