Inspection of a livestock truck with new-born chicks

One of the surviving chicks, roughly a dozen died from the accident. While parked at a highway rest stop, Eyes on Animals investigators spot a truck with new-born "broiler" chicks loaded in cages. #Vogelgriep in Putten, meer dan 100.000 kippen geruimd. 😫 In een zone van 10 km rondom het leghennenbedrijf liggen nog eens 82 andere pluimveebedrijven, waaronder 3 pluimveeslachterijen. Deze veestapel willen behouden is gekkenhuis.

Hoog-pathogene #vogelgriep vastgesteld in pluimveehouderij (110.000 leghennen) in #Putten. Alle dieren worden gedood. In principe is het mogelijk om de pluimvee te beschermen door vaccinatie, maar in #Nederland weegt exportwinst blijkbaar zwaarder.
