January 26, 2010

rabbit_truck

Eyes on Animals inspectors checked on a livestock truck transporting rabbits to slaughter. During the winter, and particularly tonight, there are very strong cold winds and thus the trucks transporting these small animals must have lateral wind-protectors. One truck however only had partial side protectors, and thus a few columns of stacked transport crates were exposed … [Read more...] about Inspection of a rabbit livestock truck during very cold temperatures

Eyes on Animals is given permission by the transport company VAEX to observe the loading of piglets onto one of their livestock trucks today. The piglets will be transported to fattening farms in Germany. Today the piglets will be loaded from two different Dutch farms. October 10, 2009

canadian_tv

The Canadian TV team that documented our TASKFORCE meeting and tours also wanted to show the difference between livestock transport legislation in Europe from the much outdated rules in Canada. Eyes on Animals saw this as a great opportunity to put more pressure on the Canadian government that still accepts, for example, that cattle be transported 52 hours without water, … [Read more...] about Inspection of livestock trucks together with Canadian TV in Italy

July 31, 2009

T-Spanish_sheep_truck_with_Perpignan_gendarmes-31.07.2009_047

In the early hours of July 31 (2009), Eyes on Animals together with PMAF stopped two Spanish-platted trucks with sheep on board, destined for slaughter in Lebanon.  The sheep did not have enough head room to stand up in their natural position, and there were no dividers in place.  The French gendarmes handed out two fines because of this.  The … [Read more...] about Inspection and fining of a Spanish truck with sheep destined for slaughter in Lebanon
