This slaughterhouse renders cattle unconscious before slaughter

June 22, 2022

Good news, this slaughterhouse close to Belikisir in Turkey that received a training from us and a stunner in March, continues to render cattle unconscious before slaughter. We just received a video from them showing cattle now being stunned in their plant. Previously cattle were forced to fall down in a trip floor box, were pulled out and hoisted up by a chain around their leg and then had their throats cut all while fully conscious and hanging from the ceiling. This was horribly frightening and extremely painful for them, and is sadly common practice throughout Turkey, at more than 1000 slaughterhouses. We are very pleased that the cattle at this plant are at least now rendered unconscious before all these terrorizing hoisting and cutting procedures. The worker is also doing a good job, he acts calmly and patiently with each animal in the box and waits for the right moment to stun correctly.
