Visit to Papen-Olbach goat farm, where they are experimenting with different floor levels in their barn for goats to climb and rest

October 26, 2022

Today we visited the dairy goat farm Papen-Olbach in Vragender (NL). Traditionally, goats are  kept in straw barns with just one floor level.  But goats are  climbers, and like to rest in a safe high place. They also prefer hard surfaces. With this in mind, Mattijn Papen-Olbach started looking at a new way to house his goats.  What … [Read more...] about Visit to Papen-Olbach goat farm, where they are experimenting with different floor levels in their barn for goats to climb and rest

Today Eyes on Animals dropped by Ridammerhoeve Demeter goat farm in Amsterdam Bos. Inspection and plans for improvement of a slaughterhouse in Accra, Ghana

October 19, 2019

Inspection and measures taken in slaughterhouse Ghana

The EonA and WACPAW team visited a slaughterhouse in Accra before flying home. The handling of the goats was really rough, they were dragged, hoisted and literally thrown onto a metal bar table where they then had their heads shoved down and got their throats slit. Some would land with their thin legs caught between the bars, causing serious pain. We immediately interfered … [Read more...] about Inspection and plans for improvement of a slaughterhouse in Accra, Ghana
