Today we found out that Meyn, a company that manufactures poultry transport containers, had recently adapted their containers so that the side doors can be opened and one can access the birds during transport! In 2012 we released our big report called “Cracks in the Crate” and our film, covering the main problems in the design of transport crates and containers for poultry. The birds were prisoners during transport; it was impossible to assist ones that were injured or stuck on their backs. It was also impossible to humanely euthanize those that were suffering badly. Coevorden developed a new transport crate with side-doors for laying hens in 2014 and now Meyn has for broilers! Bravo to these manufacturing companies!
