Today Eyes on Animals and AWF/TSB were in Bonn to meet with the German Cattle Breeders Federation and Masterrind about the situation for the thousands of pregnant heifers they exported to Turkey this past summer. We think we may have achieved a first small step : they will discuss internally our proposals that they stop exporting animals during hot weather, not use animal transport companies we have witnessed acting incompetently and have us give a talk with a slide show to all their members. They have all of our reports of each truck we inspected and promised to take action to try to reduce animal suffering and clean things up. We will remain in dialogue with them to keep the pressure on.
