It is Eid el Kabir right now for people of the Muslim faith. This is a time when people are encouraged to sacrifice their own luxuries and share with the poor. More and more young Muslims chose to donate homemade vegetarian food or clothes, but the majority still sacrifice an animal to be consumed by them, with some parts given to the poor. We encourage sacrificing animal-friendly luxuries to give to the less fortunate, but as long as animals will be slaughtered, we are working at making their slaughter less painful. Our inspector Asalet taught the slaughtermen of Emir Adakslaughterhouse in Istanbul (Turkey) how to use a captive bolt stunner to render the sheep insensitive to pain first. He then donated an EonA captive bolt pistol to them. Today the sheep to be sacrificed for Eid el Kabir were stunned prior to having their throats cut. A step in the right direction.
