Today the WACPAW/EonA team visited Bodom in Ghana’s Bono East region to continue our animal welfare education program, partnered with Mariah Walton (USAID Peace Corps Volunteer). We engaged 60 farmers, including 16 women farmers, sharing practical ways to improve the welfare of their farm animals.
The farmers were open, eager to learn, and pledged to handle their animals more humanely. We also inspected farms, offering advice on improving pig and poultry welfare. The farmers were grateful to meet animal welfare officers for the first time and felt empowered to make positive changes.
A big thank you to Mariah Walton and the warm, welcoming people of Bodom for their support. We’ll follow up soon!
