The company that won the ‘better practice prize for transport’, is van Ravenhorst. They invented a poultry truck with an air cooling system, which reduces heat stress for poultry.
The company that won the ‘better practice prize for slaughter’, is the Willems abattoir. They invented a raceway and restraint box for pigs, in order to guide them calmly before being rendered unconscious. It is designed in a way that the pigs feel little anxiety, and stunning and slaughtering can be done quickly, correctly and in a calm way.
