The bulls are reloaded and sent on to Irak

December 2, 2012

After being on a long journey from Latvia to the Bulgarian/Turkish border, and then stuck on board for days there, the bulls were finally unloaded for 22 hours due to our pressure. Nevertheless, yesterday evening they were reloaded onto the truck because Turkish officials, not knowing what else to do since the Bulgarians/EU refused to let these EU bulls back into the EU, made an exception and will allow these animals to be transported via Turkey to Irak. The truck will be followed by Turkish customs via GPS to “make sure it never stops”. Animal Welfare Foundation and Eyes on Animals team trails the truck to make sure the drivers take care of the animals and to document this horribly long and chaotic journey. At 14:00 today the exhausted bulls are at least fed and given water on board.

Dear friends,

I first discovered the bad side of factory-farming and industrial slaughter when I was a young girl of twelve.
When I visited a livestock market I saw a pile of sick animals left for dead behind the building. At a huge industrial poultry slaughterhouse, I saw dozens of live chickens walking around the bloody floor…

Amsterdam House Hotel
Eyes on Animals main office is in downtown Amsterdam, at the Amsterdam House Hotel. The generous and warm-hearted hotel owner donated to Eyes on Animals, free of charge, a beautiful room where our inspectors can work, hold meetings and store their material.
