Training of the Transport Authority Inspectors, Budapest, Hungary

November 3, 2020

Today a team from Eyes on Animals, Animal Welfare Foundation and Hungarian branch of Welfarm gave a training course to forty participants of the re-structured and newly established Transport Authority in Hungary. Our course covered the theory of the EU legislation on the protection of animals during transport, enforcement tips and sanctions, plus had a practical component of inspecting an animal truck.

These officers do road checks frequently in all the 6 regions of the country where they come from. The Head of the Transport Department of the corresponding Ministry of Information and Technology was also present and found our educational material very useful. She asked us to join their road checks as on-the-spot consultants when the Covid-situation would allow it. During the practical part of the training day, the officers checked on the watering and ventilation system, the GPS and temperature monitoring system, the presence of a ladder on board and sufficient and good -sized side access-doors. The whole training was interactive and the officers showed real interest toward this new field for them.
