Practical training of official Polish road inspectors (ITD), Krakow – Day 1

October 25, 2017

Practical training of official Polish road inspectorsTogether with the ITD Krakow Inspectors we drove to an inspection post along the A4 highway. Despite the fact that only one animal transport passes by and is inspected, the day has not been wasted: the waiting time was devoted to a training in the use of our animal inspection brochures, discussions about cases and solutions to difficult situations. The only transport inspected this day belonged to a transporter that had already been inspected three times by TSB|AWF and EonA team with ITD from other regions! The driver is proud to show all the improvements he made following previous inspections. Unfortunately, his transport is overloaded: he is carrying at least one pig too many much per deck and is 1 ton over the maximum allowed weight permitted. The driver has been educated to pay more attention to the maximum number of animals he can load and received a fine. We will write to the competent authority regarding discrepancy between the real surface area on the truck and the trailer and the surface area entered in the documents.

A special thanks to Stichting Anti Dierenleed for making it financially possible for Eyes on Animals to give these trainings.

I want to tell you about Akuba. A young sow we met last week in Ghana. We were there in the first two weeks of December, inspecting and improving slaughterhouses together with the local NGO WACPAW. Our goal: curb the intense suffering of animals that is going on there.

Het leven van de melkkoe kan pas echt verbeteren, als niemand meer trapt in de mooie praatjes en plaatjes van de zuivelindustrie. Daarom zenden we vanaf vandaag deze tv-spot uit.
