Police training in Kielce, Poland– practical follow-up

September 28, 2016

Follow-up training KielceKielce WITD, who attended our training in January 2016, invited us to take part in a joint action of ITD and Police of one of local cattle markets. It was a very interesting day: according to division of roles, police were stopping smaller vehicles (under 3.5 t), and ITD checked on the bigger livestock trucks. The Policemen, who had not had our training before, were happy to receive our training brochure and to consult us about each smaller livestock vehicle they stopped to check. ITD inspections of the larger livestock trucks were fruitful: two of the controlled vehicles belonged to transport companies already known for notorious violation of Reg. (EC) 1/2005. One of them was given a very serious fine. In the case of the second transport truck, with adult cattle loaded on double decks in the swanneck and tied by the horns without a partition on the lower deck, the Veterinary Inspection was called and the authorities ordered that the truck turn around and go back to the market to unload the animals, and load fewer animals in proper conditions. We were very impressed by their competence.

Dear friends,

I first discovered the bad side of factory-farming and industrial slaughter when I was a young girl of twelve.
When I visited a livestock market I saw a pile of sick animals left for dead behind the building. At a huge industrial poultry slaughterhouse, I saw dozens of live chickens walking around the bloody floor…

📌🐖Goed nieuws! Varkens moesten 3-4 uur wachten in hun truck
