Police training course in Nagylak, Hungary

PolicetrainingToday a team from Eyes on Animals and AWF/TSB gave a training course to the Hungarian police group responsible for checking on all trucks passing the Hungarian/Romanian border. Here many livestock trucks pass, including cattle and sheep heading to Turkey. We taught them the European legislative animal-welfare requirements during animal transport and discussed in detail what actions they can take at their border crossing when infringements are detected. After the theory training we headed to the border crossing to see if any livestock trucks were passing that could be checked on together. Unfortunately only an empty livestock truck passed this afternoon.
