Demeter farm Het Willink enthousiastic about the upright catching method

July 18, 2022

Demeter farm Het Willink (biodynamic) caught all their hens using the upright method for the first time this year. The owner let us know he was pleasantly surprised. He said: “It was very quiet in the poultry shed. So, I went to check if the catchers had already started working. When i looked, half of the chickens were already in the crates. The difference in the noise compared to using the upside-down method is huge”. The hens were caught by the poultry service company Smeding. At this time Smeding catches the hens at several Demeter farms solely using the upright method. We would like to compliment Het Willink, Demeter and Smeding for their efforts.

Melkveehouders wereldwijd delen ervaringen met #kalfbijkoe-systemen. Het vraagt aanpassingen in management en stal, maar levert volgens pioniers voordelen op voor diergedrag, gezondheid en het imago van de #melkveehouderij.
