Dec 2012 Shame on Animex transport company and sia Genetic LV

December 20, 2012

thumb_downDuring Ramadam this year (late August), most EU organizers and transporters knew not to load animals for Turkey as Turkey was not allowing EU animals in during this time. But we saw Animex on the road in Hungary, riding towards the Turkish border with live cattle on board! Despite warning the drivers and the boss that the border was not open for another 4 days, they continued anyhow claiming “we have enough extra feed on board anyhow”! Now, in late November Animex was again caught at the border. This time with bulls they loaded in Latvia for Sia Genetic LV and wanted to bring to Irak for slaughter, a route that is not even open for live animals! As a result, the animals were blocked inside the border for 6 days of bureaucractic hell until we could finally convince the border authorities to make an exception and let them out of the truck to be properly fed, watered and given room to finally move.

Our most recent newsletter

Dear friends,

Every day, hundreds of thousands of laying hens and broilers are caught and loaded for transport to slaughterhouses. For years, this happened behind closed doors, often in the dead of night, out of sight — not only for consumers, but also for authorities and animal welfare organizations.
