Dairy farmer who keeps the calves in the herd says it is of course possible!

March 22, 2016

Cow with calfTerrific letter to the editor published today in the Leeuwarden Courant, a daily paper from Friesland. It was written by one of the Dutch dairy farmers that keep the calves in the herd with their mothers for 2-4 months, instead of separating them at birth and raising them for 2-3 weeks in single small pens and then transporting the males and 65% of the females off the farm towards veal farms.
He writes this letter in reaction to the myths and agressive tone being spread by the LTO, farmers-wives but even some veterinarians and scientists that went media-crazy last week saying that keeping the calf in the herd is always a bad thing. Read it HERE.
