Terrific letter to the editor published today in the Leeuwarden Courant, a daily paper from Friesland. It was written by one of the Dutch dairy farmers that keep the calves in the herd with their mothers for 2-4 months, instead of separating them at birth and raising them for 2-3 weeks in single small pens and then transporting the males and 65% of the females off the farm towards veal farms.
He writes this letter in reaction to the myths and agressive tone being spread by the LTO, farmers-wives but even some veterinarians and scientists that went media-crazy last week saying that keeping the calf in the herd is always a bad thing. Read it HERE.
