The Daily Mail in the UK publishes an article- comparing electric with CO2 gas stunning

February 18, 2015

10.12.2012_NL_Compaxo (20)The Daily Mail in the UK publishes an article based on the scientific video Eyes on Animals made in 2012 comparing electric stunning with CO2 gas stunning of pigs before slaughter. The journalist also interviews Eyes on Animals and other experts on the topic about the aversiveness caused by both systems, and in particular by the CO2 irritating the mucous membranes and causing hyperventilation. Eyes on Animals hopes this will raise a discussion about the urgent need for more money and time to be put into developing an alternative stunning system that renders pigs unconscious without such suffering/stress.
