A better life for pigs on small farm in Uganda

March 1, 2023

Positive news from Uganda! The Vegan Village NGO in Uganda, together with some help from Eyes on Animals, have built a much nicer pen for a lonely pig and found him a friend. This pig was kept all alone in a small wooden pen with a solid floor and no roof. No space to walk and no earth on the ground to root or wallow in which are extremely important behaviours for pigs to be able to express. A pig is also a social animal, keeping them solitary causes extreme boredom and depression. We built a much larger pen with a natural floor of earth and straw, a partial roof for shade and a second pig was placed inside (of a smaller side so there is no competition or fighting). Now they can sleep side by side, root, wallow and play together. It is just a small project but it means the world to these 2 sentient beings.

Dear friends,

She conducts research in Mongolia and asked whether — if she could secure funding — we would be willing to help animals there. Where there is a will, there is a way, so I said yes to Liz!
