Unannounced visit to slaughterhouse Tomassen in Someren (NL)

November 26, 2013

Today Eyes on Animals inspectors paid an unannounced visit to slaughterhouse Tomassen slaughterhouse in Someren (Noord-Brabant, NL) again.

In July we were also here and then we watched the slaughter process of cows. We wanted to return to inspect the slaughter of pigs. But today there were again only cows being slaughtered.

We were again received in a friendly manner. The director and the NVWA veterinarian provided us with information.  We were allowed to take photos, which is seldom allowed at slaughterhouses.

Although the slaughter of animals is never a nice thing to observe, the slaughter process at this plant was calm and without any serious incidence and made a much a very good impression on us compared to the many other slaughterhouses we have visited in the Netherlands and abroad.

She conducts research in Mongolia and asked whether — if she could secure funding — we would be willing to help animals there. Where there is a will, there is a way, so I said yes to Liz!

When disasters strike the planet, humans are not the only victims. Animals trapped in animal agriculture are often left behind to die.
