Presention to chief Hungarian police about our trainings on animal-welfare-during-transport

May 22, 2012

22052012_1

Today Eyes on Animals, Welfarm and Animal Welfare Foundation gave a talk at the annual further-education course for the Chief-Hungarian police. Twenty-five people were present and the chairman was the National-Head Police of the highway department (gendarmes). The Deputy of the National Police was also present. We were invited to give a presentation about the training courses we offer to police about livestock-truck inspections and enforcement of the European legislation protecting animals during transport.

Since 2009 Eyes on Animals has been giving trainings to the Belgian highway police. In 2012 we joined forces with the Hungarian group Welfarm, as well as the Animal Welfare Foundation, to start offering a similar course to the Hungarian police. We felt this to be very necessary after observing many livestock trucks from Hungary at the EU/Turkish border that were in serious violation. We have published a police-training brochure together in the Hungarian language.

The chairman emphasized that, as animal-welfare would become more and more significant, the police should also be prepared. All of the counties expressed interest in our trainings and will contact us soon to plan the first training day.
