Practical training course to Polish road authorities in Lagow

January 20, 2016

WITD road inspection in LagowToday Eyes on Animals and TSB/AWF team hold a practical training session to the Polish road authorities. The training session takes place along a road leading to a livestock market in Lagow. The participants are from our previous theoretical training course that we gave in Kielce and Lublin. It is minus 12 degrees this early morning. We stop a cattle truck and several infringements of the legislation are found, such as inadequate dividers, overcrowding and the bulls on the second floor are tied on by the horns. While this truck is inspected another truck loaded with cows on two decks arrives and we stop it too. The dividers pose a risk for injuries. The animals in both trucks also do not have enough headspace, some of them even touch the ceiling with their heads and backs. The animals can not be unloaded or reloaded on other vehicles, because there is no authorized stable in the area, but administrative procedures will be started against the transporters.
