Presentation to the Dutch Animal Police

November 15, 2012

15.11.2012_Dierenpolitie_Zaandijk_studie_dag__3

Eyes on Animals was invited by the Dutch Animal Police from North Holland region to give a presentation of our findings during our inspections of livestock-transports and slaughter in the Netherlands and abroad. Approximately 20 officers were present, all with a passion to put an end to violations to animal-welfare. We admire these officers, who, by treating cases of animal abuse seriously are helping everyone in society and making police work more efficient; 80% of serious criminals start off by practicing violence on animals and catching them at this phase can prevent later crimes, such as murder and rape. During our presentation we illustrated which violations we most commonly continue to see, with a special emphasis on chicken transports which in the Netherlands are the most problematic. We will remain in contact with eachother and continue to provide them with our reports.
