Today Eyes on Animals inspectors met with Marianne Thieme and NiKo Koffeman from the Dutch Political Party for Animals in The Hague to exchange information, and to ask for political attention on several animal-welfare issues that during our investigations have shown to be still very problematic; namely the welfare of mother animals that are kept for breeding and not given any nesting material. We also discussed the newest scientific literature indicating the high-level of suffering animals experience when slaughtered without stunning (in a ritual manner). Eyes on Animals is impressed with this political party that has greatly increased awareness of animal welfare among the Dutch population and keeps pushing the politics forward to better protect the rights of animals.
