In de EU regelgeving staat dat er tijdens transport toegang tot de dieren moet zijn, om hen indien nodig van de andere dieren te scheiden en eerste hulp te bieden. Helaas kan pluimvee in Europa nog steeds niet van deze wet profiteren; tot op heden worden deze wettelijke welzijnsregels door de pluimvee-industrie en handhavers van de wet genegeerd.<\/p>\n

Eind Augustus volgden wij gedurende 12,5 uur een pluimveetransport van Nederland naar een slachthuis in Polen. Wij zagen vele hennen met open wonden waarvan er sommige ernstig bloedden. Helaas kon er niets gedaan worden om deze dieren uit hun lijden te verlossen omdat het nog steeds niet mogelijk is om bij de dieren te komen als zij eenmaal in hun transportkratten zitten. Deze gewonde dieren zaten dus 12,5 uur pijn lijdend gevangen in hun krat onderweg naar het slachthuis.<\/p>\n

Eyes on Animals blijft druk uitoefenen op de pluimvee-industrie om een nieuwe, betere krat te ontwerpen die toegang tot de dieren biedt. Het verslag van deze zaak is opgestuurd naar de NVWA en de Europese autoriteiten.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
