Vanaf het moment dat de kalveren in Ierland op de vrachtwagens worden geladen tot het moment dat ze na aankomst in Frankrijk eindelijk voer\/melk krijgen, zijn er minimaal 24 &#8211; 30 uur verstreken. Melk is het enige soort &#8220;voer&#8221; dat deze jonge dieren op hun leeftijd kunnen consumeren, en het is niet mogelijk om ze aan boord van een vrachtwagen melk te geven. Volgens de EU-wetgeving moeten niet-gespeende kalveren vloeistof krijgen en, indien nodig, voeren na 9 uur aan boord van een vrachtwagen en na 19 uur moeten ze uit de vrachtwagen worden gelost om goed te rusten en te eten. Maar Stena Line en Irish Ferries blijven deze handel faciliteren, de Ierse autoriteiten blijven het toestaan \u200b\u200ben zelfs de Europese Unie tolereert het. De EU stelt dat wij, de NGO&#8217;s, niet hebben kunnen bewijzen dat de niet-gespeende kalveren geen melk krijgen op de vrachtwagens tijdens de 19-uur durende overtocht met de veerboot! Het wordt tijd dat er een einde komt aan deze wrede handel, waarbij kalveren lijden aan uitdroging, uitputting, honger, scheepskoorts en gruwelijke fysieke mishandeling op de controleposten in Cherbourg, Frankrijk.
